Steve was born and raised in Washington state. He joined the US Army in 1990 and deployed to Desert Shield/Desert Storm upon completion of Military Police training.
His first duty station was Fort Huachuca, where he met his wife, Abby. They married and had both of their children in Sierra Vista, AZ. Both Steve and Abby continued to serve in the Army, sharing nine duty assignments, until their retirements (2010, 2011 respectively).
Steve continues to serve our nation by doing his part to serve Alaska. He has been an Alaska state resident since 2001 and a resident of House District 26 since 2010. He is actively involved at the grass-roots, state, and federal levels.
Steve served for six years as a Legislative Aide to then-Representative, now Senator Cathy Tilton, and as Chief of Staff to Representative Thomas Baker. He was appointed by Governor Dunleavy in December 2025 and proudly serves as the Representative for House District 26. With a strong understanding of the legislative process in Juneau, established relationships with House Republicans, and familiarity with the state budget, he is committed to continuing conservative values.
